About Me

• I was raised in Nuneaton by May and Des (after they left Northern Ireland to escape the troubles). I have an older sister Erica and came to Leeds University to study dentistry in 1988 (seems like yesterday).
  
  I now feel an honorary Yorkshire man having lived here for over 20 years. I am a sports fan and played rugby union for Headingley and Leeds Tykes. I now play occasionally for the Wooden Spoon charity team and help coach the under7?s at West Park Leeds. I am still keeping fit and I am currently devoting my time to training for the Lakeland challenge next year and some triathlons.
  
  What spare time I do get I spend with the family and I am slipping into the role of taxi driver, as the children get older and need ferrying from party to activity to activity!
  
  Dentistry is my passion and I am aspiring to complete the Fellowship in dentistry; the highest post-graduate award available to general dentists. I have completed the MFGDP and the Diploma in Restorative Dentistry exams and only have the final management exam part to complete this coming year and therefore hopefully will have achieved the award by 2011, all being well; a culmination of 6 years hard work.
  
  If time permits then I will also start my final year working towards my MSc in October 2010.
  
  
• I enjoy being a dentist because you get the chance to make a difference to someone?s life every day. Whether it?s curing someone?s tooth pain or improving someone?s smile you are uniquely placed to help someone improve their quality of life. I?m a practical person and so this blend of being able to help someone by using your manual skills means that I ENJOY my job every day. As part of a team at Farsley this is genuinely rewarding.
